A Block Party for the World

Bite into a crunchy bacalaito washed down with Colombian coffee sweetened with French pastries as the kids go rock-climbing, meet the animals at the petting zoo, or ride a real pony. And then there’s the music.
A marching band booms, the Multicultural Kids Band takes the big stage followed by Zumba, Afro-Latin hip hop, Latin jazz w/ Afro-Lateens, poetry, and rap while Emily Surtrees’classic R&B soul rocks the block before the big finale with Zon del Barrio featuring special guests: Fania All-Star, Nicky Marreroand La Yoli, singing the songs of her mother, La Lupe.
Union Settlement’s 27th Annual Ethnic Festival kicks off the warm weather celebrations of East Harlem highlighting the neighborhood’s unique cultures through music, dance, arts & crafts, ethnic cuisine and educational activities for all. A large variety of multi-cultural entertainment will be offered on an outdoor stage, dozens of local vendors and exhibitors will line the streets, and activities for all age groups will take place throughout the day, attracting thousands of New Yorkers.
