About Aurora Communications & Aurora Flores

Founded in 1988, Aurora Communications has provided its corporate, nonprofit, and private sector clients with a wide range of services in government affairs, community relations, media relations, concert & music productions, sponsorship development, videos, crisis management and marketing communications.

With established expertise in reaching multi-cultural communities through multi-language and multi-level media platforms, Aurora Communications designs its media relations programs and strategies based on an in-depth understanding of the unique characteristics of these media, their audiences and their interconnection with communities, companies, artists, and brands. We know the press from the inside out. We engage communities because our consultants are former journalists who live and work in those communities.

An entrepreneurial publicist & award-winning media consultant, writer and producer, Aurora has launched campaigns for significant Fortune 500 companies increasing client profiles, promoting brands while impacting sales. She led a team of thirty at the start of the phone wars leading to a divestiture that broke through the monopoly. While handling the Teacher's Union, they reached out to the Spanish language communities through print and broadcast media, special events and teacher/parent forums. For McDonald's a three-pronged program of special events, media relations and community relations established the fast-food chain as an anchor in their neighborhoods throughout the Tri-State Area. A top to bottom cause-related media and community campaign saved Pathmark Supermarkets' entry into East Harlem and a potential loss of millions for its non-profit partner the Abyssinian Baptist Church. We conducted focus groups and wrote the feasibility study that spawned the "Hispanic Federation" from United Way, today an umbrella organization of more than 100 nonprofit organizations. Aurora Communications has produced major music concerts and health conferences throughout the City and the nation.

A published author and journalist she broke barriers as the first woman music correspondent for Billboard Magazine. Her name appears on hundreds of music liner notes and thousands of articles on music, culture, community, and politics. As a BMI composer, she writes original music for the Nickelodeon’ hit series “Dora the Explorer,” and for orchestra Zon del Barrio, which performs from New York to the Caribbean to France’s Cotes d'Azur. She is featured over many documentaries on Latin music and culture.

Aurora lectures at colleges and universities and conducts cultural tours of East Harlem for students and corporate organizations.
